Léon Bourgeois was a distinguished French politician and Prime Minister of France from 1 November 1895 to 29 April 1896. As one of the founding fathers of the League of Nations he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1920. He was also a friend and patron of artists, notably Eugène Boudin.
